Want to stamp on fabric? A useful comparison of stamp pads
Want to stamp on fabric? Many of the people who want me to create a stamp for them also wish to use their stamp on fabric to create tags and stamp their fabric products. I don’t have a lot of experience stamping on fabric however I do know that some stamp pads claim to work on a variety of surfaces including fabric. So this week I decided to do a bit of research to find out which stamp pad might work best on fabric.

I found this great article on crafttestdummies.com which compares a whole range of craft stamp pads commonly available in crafting and scrapbooking/paper craft shops and of course online. All the stamp pads were stamped on fabric, ironed to set them and then washed. You can read the article here:

There also seems to be a new stamp pad available which is specifically for stamping fabric. I haven’t yet been able to find anyone who has “tested” it and reported back on how well they work. Scribbles Fabric Stamp Pads claim to be permanent, machine washable and non-toxic. You can see the colour range and buy them online at Createforless and other online craft stores:

Add some fun by clipping it on!
A quick and easy way to add a bit of fun to your packaging is to clip your tags (hand stamped using a stamp from Firefly Stamps – of course!) and business cards on to your packaging. Clips are a perfect addition for posting out your handmade creations, displaying packaged goods at market stalls, or general gift wrapping – especially with Christmas just round the corner!
Hard to see, but a metalic spiral shaped paperclip
There are lots of options available if you search in your local craft shops, two dollar stores, office supplies stores and online. Don’t forget to make sure they fit with your business colour scheme, style of your products, or packaging.
Some cheap and cheerful options include:
- Cute mini wooden pegs
- Add a dash of colour with mini coloured plastic pegs
- Coloured paper clips – these are super cheap and easy to access

- Buy shaped paper clips – there are lots of cute options out there. These are just a few of the good ones I found on ebay:
